Church members commit to joining a spiritual family that provides encouragement and support. Members are called to a higher degree of responsibility, service, and sacrifice. The pastors and ministry leaders of First Baptist Ruston pledge to assist members with care, counsel, prayer, and teaching.
Becoming A Member
How can I join?
Any person who acknowledges and trusts Christ alone for salvation and who is baptized by immersion may become a member of the church . Here are few simple steps:
1) Present yourself for membership before, after or during the invitation of any Worship Service or other church gathering. You may indicate on the response card and a minister will set up a time or you can meet with a minister during the response time of the service (after the sermon) when the pastor invites anyone who wishes to join, to come forward.
2) You will need to express your desire for membership in one of the following ways.
- Profession of faith
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Savior and/or publicly acknowledged and confessed Him as your Lord and Savior. You will be given an opportunity to do so and also set a time to be baptized.
- Transfer of letter from a sister Baptist Church
If you are currently a member of another Baptist Church, we will receive you as a member with the promise of a letter from that church. First Baptist Church will contact that church and notify them of your request.
- Statement of faith
If you previously made a profession of faith and been baptized by immersion in another faith tradition (or if you’ve made a profession of faith and are willing to be baptized by immersion). We will be happy to welcome you into our family of believers.
