The Only One Who Knows . . .

The Only One Who Knows . . .
". . . God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"  Hebrews 13:5
Pandemic. Tornado. Hurricanes.  And recently another kind of bluster overnight?  A snow blizzard?
Is today January 26, 2021?  Or is it December 57, 2020?  Because it sure feels like it's still 2020.
Will anything make sense again?  Will there ever be another "ordinary" day, the kind we used to complain about when "nothing happened" and life was "boring"?  Looking in the rear-view mirror, those seem like awfully good times now.
Thank goodness, although things change, God does not.  The calendar flips, but God does not.  "Truth" shifts among the people, depending on how the cultural wind is blowing, but God's truth is eternal, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Think back on how things have turned out for you when you were faithful, when the darkest hour was just before dawn.  God knows what we're dealing with down here.  He's not really "by your side" . . . He's leading the way.  You're His favorite and I'm His favorite, hard as that is to believe.  Joseph and Moses and Jesus Himself will each tell you from experience that when things seem lost for a child of God, they aren't.
Every day with your coffee and newspaper, you think, "I've never seen this before." But God has.  He will never leave you . . . and He will make a way.  Trust and obey.  Not only is He the most true friend you could ever have, He's the only one who will hold your hand all the time, no matter what, and He's the only one who knows what lies ahead.
As the old song goes . . . "I know who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand."
"The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all."  Psalm 34:19 (NIV)
