Seeing Is Believing . . .

Seeing Is Believing . . .

Or . . . is it the other way around?  Believing is seeing.

"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:29b (NJKV)

Has anyone ever asked you if you have ever seen God?  There is no problem in confessing that you have never seen God.  But you might also ask that person, "Have you ever seen the magnetic North Pole?"  The truth is, no one has ever seen the magnetic North Pole, but we all believe it exists.  I am one who has flown his "eager craft through the high, untrespassed sanctity of space," depending on reaching my intended destination by a compass, which reveals directional information based on that magnetic field derived from the position of that North Pole.

The story is told about a boy who was flying a kite.  It was a beautiful day, and large, fluffy clouds were blowing across the sky.  The kite went higher and higher until it was completely lost in the clouds.

"What are you doing?" a man asked the boy.  "I'm flying a kite," he replied.  "But how can you be sure?  You can't see it."  "No," said the boy, "but every time I feel a tug I know it's there."  Just as the boy's kite was hidden from sight, so God is hidden from our eyes, but we may know that He is present with us because we can feel the tug of His Spirit in our lives.

"No one has seen God at any time.  The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." John 1:18 (NJKV)  "That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world." John 1:9 (NKJV)

So . . . believing is seeing!
